In 2009, we advised the comprised of leading international and indigenous upstream oil companies in connection with its review and analyses of tax aspects of the petroleum industry bill.

Advised on the internal restructuring of the Total Group which is being implemented through the transfer of shares held by Total S.A. and Elf Aquitaine in Total Nigeria Plc to Total Raffinage Marketing.
Working with other national and multinational corporations and engineering firms in connection with bifurcation of engineering, procurement and construction contracts and evolution of contracting structures and strategies to manage the tax exposure of our clients.
We worked with a host of other local and multinational corporations, in connection with the evolution of structures, to manage the quantum of stamp duties and other transaction charges payable in connection with the creation of security interests to secure various financing.
Advised in connection with the tax aspects of its restructuring and migration to a holding company structure. In connection with this assignment we highlighted problematic provisions of the Companies Income Tax Act which had adverse implications for holding companies and, working with other tax advisers, provided support to FirstBank in connection with engagement of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, the Ministry of Finance and the Presidency with respect to securing waivers for the thorny tax issues.
