Thelma Okorie
Thelma specializes in Intellectual Property Rights, Information Technology and Data Protection.
She has a wealth of expertise in all intellectual property areas, more particularly having acted in numerous trademark infringement disputes involving FMCG and high tech companies as well as issues surrounding transfers of technology. She also advises on copyright issues and general brand protection matters. She has specific knowledge of the Data Protection field, in which she advises both global and local clients on various regulatory compliance matters such as data protection audit, data breach notification procedure and data subjects rights.
Thelma regularly publishes on intellectual property and data protection issues and has written a number of articles on issues such as “The Need for International Protection of Trademarks” in The IPR Gorilla Dec 2020 magazine and “Openness or Transparency in Data Processing” in Proshare Business June 2021 . She is also a resource person and has delivered numerous trainings on Data Protection matters to high profile companies in the financial and FMCG sectors.
She is currently a member of the Innovation and Intellectual Property and Data & Digital Economy communities of the National Assembly Business Environment Roundtable Expert Network Community. Outside the law, her interest includes travel and fine dining.
